Chapter 12: Angry Gay Grandpa Ordered to Pay $17,000 for Protesting Trans Youth Suicides
Recently, filmmaker and LGBTQ activist James Lantz—known online as Angry Gay Grandpa—was convicted of “criminal mischief” in a Pennsylvania state court and ordered to pay $17,000 in fines and restitution. His crime? A peaceful protest targeting then–State Senator Ryan Aument, a MAGA Republican who refused to acknowledge the suicide deaths of five trans and non-binary youth in his own county. Five kids!
Because cameras weren’t permitted in the courtroom, Lantz read his statement at a press conference immediately following sentencing. He was joined by Mark Clatterbuck, the father of Ashton Clatterbuck—one of the five trans youth tragically lost to suicide in Lancaster County. Both delivered statements that are deeply personal, emotional, and justifiably angry.
This video is a condensed, edited compilation of that press conference, intercut with news footage and context. 🪧 To watch the full, unedited statements: visit www.angrygaygrandpa.com 🆘 If you're struggling, please know you're not alone.
